Change Your God!

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

America is a nation that likes change.  Our very nature as Americans is rooted in continual change.  Change can be good.  No one wants to live in the 19th century or even 20 years ago.

But…..We have now embarked on a change that will prove to be very painful.  Americans seem to want to change their God.  We now have taken God’s Word and made it to fit our ideas of the Almighty Creator.

On the subject of Jesus being the only way to Heaven…..in a recent New York Times article, the writer said ‘Americans aren’t buying it!’.  Since when did God change His word or Himself because Americans don’t like what they read in scripture????

It has been suggested that we are now acting like Hindues.  We pick our God and believe what we choose.  The Bible indicates that the ‘heavens are startled’ by this very notion.

Will this nation wake up?  At this moment, it seems that we refuse to honor God or His Word.  What is life going to be like when 300 million people have 300 million gods???

No nation on earth has ever gone down this road.  Where it leads us, only God our Father knows for sure.  Pray for REVIVAL in the land…..it is indeed our only source of hope for a future.

‘Remembering’

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

A very special group of people spent several years in a SS Class at Pink Ridge Baptist Church in the late ’60’s and into the early ’80’s.  This class was taught by Miss Flora Jefferies.

She devoted most of her life to reaching the kids of the community.  She singled handley had her own youth program!  I was one of those kids.

I remember the first time that a white Ford came down a dusty road and the door opened so I could go to church.  It was my first time.  I thought it was all just a ‘bunch’ of events……I now know it was the hand of God doing he guiding.

We will gather on August 22 and celebrate her life and pause to remember what a grand lady she was indeed!  The young people of the community will be looking for ‘Miss Flora’ when we get to Heaven.  We will have a lot of ‘Remembering’ and weeping to do because she led us to the gates of heaven.

This is a tribute to her and the ‘works that follow her’.  I look forward to clasping hands again in a land where all things are new!
